Success with setting up Hugo for my blog and more success
Ryan Bassett
I decided to start writing content on the side from building JavaScript and Web projects as well as developing code. I feel it is important to me for me to start communicating what I am learning as well as keeping “progress” markers in a blog format.
The categories of my blog are going to be in the realm of:
- Web Development, including coding (HTML5/CSS3/JS/etc).
- Linux, including how I use Pop_OS! as my OS and have left Windows behind.
- Book reviews, book summaries, and book notes for my recent readings.
- Strength training and conditioning, nutrition. My goal to reducing BF% and increasing muscle mass.
- My personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, maybe including Theological resources or verses that strike me.
Update on Netlify and Quake Live Config Editor
I recently have done some work for a music artist named L Smith and made him a personal space online showcasing his music. Because I was constantly pushing new deployments to my host (Netlify), I was really short on credits (less than 20) and I recently purchased the Netlify premium membership for $9 that gives 1000 credits a month.
This allows me to push more updates every month and even make blog posting a possible endeavor.
Another bonus to upgrading my Netlify membership is the ability to see longer term statistics for Web Analytics on my projects, which all of my major projects exist on my personal account. I am happy to share that my Quake Live Config Editor is doing massive success (compared to my previous endeavours).

I am seeing roughly 3,500 total pageviews and 2,400 unique visitors per week.
If you don’t know about my project, it’s a GUI tool for creating Quake Live configuration files, with full length descriptions and mulitple features.
Not going to bore you with useless writing.
In college I was needing help from a writing assistant so I wasn’t so long-winded. My only goal of my first blog post is to set the blog’s overall arching structure and give an insight to what future articles are going to include.
I’m looking forward to writing the following items:
- Most important JavaScript lessons I’ve learned in the last 2 weeks.
- My current size measurements for bodyparts before actively beginning a 12 week training program to ‘cut’ and work recomposition training 3 times a week and using methods to measure out calories, track habits like morning weight and sleep, etc.
- Write a short review of the current book I am reading: How to change your life by Richard Bandler, coauthored by Terrance Mcckenna, a book primarily on the technique of NLP.
I hope I learn writing skills through the process of continuing pumping out material and also provide some useful content for my readers.
So long!
-Ryan
