FAQ

How Can We Help?

Have a question about computer repair, upgrades, data recovery, or another CircuitFix service? We've answered some of the questions customers ask most often below.

Computer Repair

CircuitFix works with a wide range of desktop computers and laptops, including systems used for home, office, gaming, school, and general everyday computing.
Check that the power cable or charger is securely connected and that the system is receiving power. If the computer still won’t start, avoid repeatedly attempting to power it on and have the system evaluated to determine whether the problem is related to the power supply, motherboard, battery, or another component.
It depends on what is causing the problem. A diagnostic evaluation can help determine whether your system needs a repair, hardware upgrade, software troubleshooting, or potentially a replacement.
Repair time depends on the type of problem, the condition of the hardware, and whether replacement parts are required. After evaluating the system, we can provide a better estimate based on the specific issue.

Virus & Malware

Common warning signs include unexpected pop-ups, browser redirects, unfamiliar programs, unusual slowdowns, security warnings, and other behavior that wasn’t present before. Some threats can also operate without obvious symptoms.
In many situations, malware can be removed while preserving personal files. The appropriate approach depends on the type and severity of the infection and the condition of the system.
Avoid entering additional passwords or sensitive information and contact us if you notice unusual activity. If the computer begins displaying suspicious behavior, having it evaluated before continuing to use it can help identify potential problems.

Before You Bring It

Whenever possible, keep a separate copy of important documents, photos, projects, and other irreplaceable files before bringing your computer in for service.

Yes. For laptops and other devices that use an external power adapter, bringing the original charger can help us test the system properly and verify that the power equipment is working as expected.
Tell us what the computer is doing, when the problem started, and anything unusual you’ve noticed. Details such as error messages, crashes, overheating, unusual noises, or recent changes can help us diagnose the issue more efficiently.
It depends on the problem. If the system is showing signs of a failing storage drive, severe overheating, unusual hardware noises, or a possible malware infection, continued use may make the situation worse. Let us know what you’re experiencing so we can determine the appropriate next step.
Bring any accessories that are directly related to the problem, such as a power adapter, docking station, external drive, or other device you normally use with the computer. This can help us reproduce and diagnose the issue more accurately.
You should never provide passwords unnecessarily. Depending on the service, however, certain repairs or software troubleshooting may require access to the operating system. We can explain what information may be needed before work begins.

Data Recovery & Backup

In some situations, deleted files can be recovered depending on the condition of the storage device and whether the previous data has been overwritten. The sooner a potentially affected device is evaluated, the better.

Recovery may be possible depending on the type and severity of the failure. We first evaluate the storage device and determine what recovery options may be appropriate.

Stop using the drive and avoid repeated attempts to access the data. Continued operation of a failing mechanical drive may make recovery more difficult.
Yes. CircuitFix can help you establish a practical backup strategy using local storage, external drives, cloud services, or a combination depending on your needs.

Upgrades & Custom PCs

CircuitFix can help with RAM, SSDs, storage, graphics cards, cooling, power supplies, Wi-Fi hardware, and other compatible components depending on the computer.
Additional memory can improve performance when your system does not have enough RAM for the applications and multitasking you perform. However, not every slowdown is caused by insufficient memory.

Yes. We can help configure a system around your games, preferred resolution, performance goals, budget, and future upgrade plans.

That depends on the age, condition, hardware, and intended use of the system. We can evaluate the computer and help determine whether an upgrade provides enough benefit to make sense.
